  1. MEDICO-LEGAL ASSESSMENTS & REPORT WRITING
  • Assessments: Medico-legal and/or Psycho-Legal assessments expertise with regards to Loss of amenities and earnings incurred, through utilising various standardised and non-standardized methods. 
  • Report Writing: Compilation of comprehensive medico-legal reports for third party claims. (motor vehicle accident, train accident, personal injury, medical negligence)
  • Joint Minutes: Compilation of joint minutes with other colleagues.
  • Pre-trial meeting: Attendance of a Pre-trial discussions.
  • Court Appearance/Expert Witness: Providing expert witness in the court of law.

2.MENTAL HEALTH/PSYCHIATRY & WELLNESS SERVICES 

Masango Occupational Therapy Services is affiliated with Evexia Psychiatric Day Hospitals ( www.evexia.co.za ), which comprises a Multi-Professional Team with an intent to inspire hope in patients and contribute to their mental well-being. 

Masango OT Services staff members are part of the Multi-Professional Team and/or Group Therapy Facilitators at Evexia, thereby providing a five-day-a-week intensive group psychotherapeutic treatment intervention, and individual treatment. 

Among the psychiatric services includes: 

  • Life skills training, stress management, mindfulness. 
  • Work-life balance, occupational balance, time management. 
  • Work assessments, work hardening, Job readiness & placement. 
  • Wellness recovery action plans (WRAP). 
  • Cognitive & emotional (memory, concentration etc.) assessment and treatment.  
  • Self-subsystem (self-esteem, ideal self, cognitive self-etc). 
  • Independence with good quality in all areas of occupations (work, ADL, IADLs, leisure, Education, social participation, play, rest & sleep), amongst other things.  

3. WORK ASSESSMENT & REHABILITATION SERVICES 

  • Functional Capacity Evaluation – assessment of the client’s work capacity to determine residual functional capacity post any form of impairment, disability or injury. 
  • Work visit – on-site assessment, on-the-job evaluation and Job analysis. 
  • Work intervention – work conditioning, work hardening. 
  • Work placement, follow up, reasonable accommodation, ergonomics assessment and work station adjustment. 
  • Incapacity Assessment and Disability Management. 
  • Case Management. 

4. PHYSICAL REHABILITATION 

Assessment and treatment of physical impairment, conditions and/or disability: 

  • Orthopaedic Injuries (spinal cord injuries, fractures, burns etc)
  • Splinting (Hand therapy) 
  • Neuro-rehabilitation (Brain injuries, Stroke, MS etc.) 
  • Wheelchair issue and training
  • Home visits and home adaptations, accessibility 
  • Assistive devices (issuing and training), and recommendations 

5. CORPORATE, DISABILITY MANAGEMENT & EMPLOYEE WELLNESS 

  • Accessibility assessment and Audits 
  • Injury on Duty – assessment, reporting and intervention 
  • Advisory and Consultation on work-related Disability and adjustments 
  • Medical Boarding and Incapacity Management 
  • Employee Sensitisation, awareness, training and/or workshops  
  • Team building, Productivity, Time management and Change Management
  • Employee support and wellness (Stress management, Conflict Management, Communication Skills, Leadership Skills) 

6. CONSULTING SERVICES 

Among other services that we offer at Masango OT, includes consulting service on adhoc and/or retainer basis (depending on the needs of our clients. Our Principal Occupational Therapist, July Masango is an expert adviser, lecturer, speaker and consultant for various cooperate companies, public sector departments and Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs), and he also sits at various boards and committees.
